Re Roofing Project Delivered on Ministry of Justice Bail Hostel in Partnership with Tier 1 Contractor

Re roofing project at Ministry of Justice bail hostel in Stoke completed by North East roofing contractor working with Tier 1 contractor

We’ve recently completed a full re roofing project on a Ministry of Justice bail hostel, working alongside a Tier 1 contractor.

The project was delivered over a five week programme, completed on time, and without any issues on site.

This wasn’t a straightforward re roof. The building remained operational throughout, with higher risk occupants and strict requirements around security, access, and day to day site management.

From the outset, it was clear this job needed more than just roofing experience. It required control, communication, and an understanding of how to operate within a live, sensitive environment.

Working Within Live and Secure Environments

Projects like this bring a different level of responsibility.

Access to site, control of materials, and even tool management all need to be considered. We ensured:

  • Controlled access and secure storage of materials and equipment
  • Clear communication with site management and other trades
  • Operatives aware of site sensitivities and expectations
  • Clean and controlled working areas at all times

There’s no room for loose processes on buildings like this. Everything needs to be structured and predictable.

Programme and Delivery

The project was completed within a five week programme, with works progressing as planned throughout.

No delays. No disruption to the wider site.

From a Tier 1 contractor’s point of view, that’s what matters. Turning up when you say you will, keeping things moving, and not creating problems that don’t need to exist.

Quality of Installation

Works included full strip and replacement of the existing roof covering, installation of new breathable membrane, battens, and tiled roof system.

Attention to detail during setting out and installation was key, particularly across multiple roof facets and junctions as shown in the aerial image.

The focus was simple. Get it right first time.

Working with Tier 1 Contractors

We understand what Tier 1 contractors need from a roofing package:

  • Clear communication
  • Reliable labour and supervision
  • Compliance with site procedures
  • Ability to integrate into larger programmes
  • Minimal oversight required

We’ve delivered projects alongside contractors such as Kier and on Ministry of Justice schemes, local authority buildings, and schools across the North East.

Looking Ahead

This is the type of work we’re continuing to build on.

Structured, well run projects where expectations are clear and delivery matters.

If you’re a project manager or main contractor looking for a roofing contractor who understands how these jobs run, we’re always open to a conversation.
